Verana Networks is excited to welcome Sundar Sankaran as Vice President of Engineering and a member of its leadership team.

Sundar will be leading Verana’s engineering organization, which has grown rapidly over the last year to over 50 highly capable engineers with expertise in hardware engineering, millimeter wave RF and antenna design, 5G-NR physical layer design, higher-layer cellular protocols, network management, and systems engineering.

Sundar joins Verana Networks from the Ruckus business unit of CommScope where, as VP of Engineering for Access Point hardware and software teams, he led a global team that delivered generations of indoor and outdoor wireless access points.
Before joining Ruckus Networks, Sundar was Senior Director of Technology at Qualcomm Atheros and served as the overall engineering lead, with the responsibility to deliver silicon along with reference hardware and software, on multiple chip programs.

Prior to Ruckus and Qualcomm, he had stints at Intel, ArrayComm, and Infosys. He is a co-inventor on 18 US patents as well as several pending patents. Sundar earned a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, India, and master’s and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech.

Verana Networks is building a highly differentiated 5G base station solution for millimeter wave spectrum. It is an incredibly challenging project, but one that has the potential to turbocharge cellular networks.
